Hand hold house against green field

So, you finally decided to take that trip you’ve been talking about to Aruba, but you’re not so sure you want to stay in a hotel. There’s a trend on the rise on the island and it’s known as vacation rentals. There are apartments and homes on Aruba which you can rent for the duration of your vacation, and they provide a interesting alternative to staying in a hotel. But before you call the first place you find available, make sure you know all you need to know about renting a vacation house.

The first thing you need to know before you rent a vacation house is how much it costs. The island is full of vacation houses, town homes, condos, and apartments. Take your time searching through them to find one that fits into you budget. Most of the vacation rentals in Aruba, and other places for that matter, charge by the night with a minimum number of nights. Find out that minimum number of nights right off the bat so you are getting your heart set on one particular house with a seven night minimum if you’re only going to be on the island for four nights. Also, cut out rentals that don’t fit in your budget to avoid wasting time looking at places you can’t afford.

Location is an important factor you’ll want to know about before renting also. If you know you’re going to be spending most of your time on a particular part of the island, you don’t want to rent a house on the opposite side. You won’t want to waste the majority of your vacation driving back and forth from your rental home to your other destinations. Also be aware of whether or not potential rentals are located in “senior only” communities if you have children or are younger than seniors. You don’t want to pay money for a place you won’t be able to stay. Another thing you should know about before renting is what amenities the rental facilities have to offer.

Whether you’re renting a house or an apartment in a complex, the community you’re renting in will more than likely still offer some sort of amenities. Check out what they have to offer so you know if they have things that will be useful during your stay. While checking out the amenities, be sure to look at what the apartment, town home, or house has in it as well. Does it have a fully functioning kitchen or will you have to go out for every meal? Is there a washer and dryer or will you have to find a laundromat to wash your clothes? There are other things you’ll want to find out about before renting a vacation house.

If you have pets, and plan to take them with you to Aruba, you’ll want to find out if the rental property allows pets. You may want to check out what kind of offers they have in regards to phone service. Some rental properties even offer cell phones for rent during your stay. You’ll want to find out if the rental comes with complementary cleaning services, recommended maid services, or if you’ll be the one to clean the house the entire time you stay there. Before you rush into renting a vacation house, be sure you know everything there is to know. Don’t get stuck with a rental apartment that’s worse than staying in a hotel.
